1. Is this therapy or counsling?

No. Light Beyond Shadows is not a therapy program.

We provide trauma-informed support, coping tools, and group connections, but we do not diagnose, provide clinical treatment, or replace mental health.

 

2. Is there a cost for programs?

Services at Light Beyond Shadows are low-cost to free, depending on the program.

We never turn a family away due to financial barriers, and assistance is available.

3. What ages do you serve?

We currently support children and teens ages 5-17 through age-specific groups:

  • Ages 5-8

  • Ages 9-12

  • Ages 13-17

4. Do you accept kids with behavioral challenges?

Yes. We understand trauma can look like anger, withdrawl, shutting down, or acting out.

Kids will never be judged or shamed here.

5. Do parents attend with their kids?

No. Groups are designed for youth only. However, we do offer caregiver support and resources.

6. How do I enroll my child?

Click the "GET HELP" page, fill out the short form, and a team member will contact you.

7. Are volunteers background-checked?

Yes. Every volunteer or staff member must pass a background check, complete trauma-informed training, and commit to our safety standards.

8. What kind of trauma do you support?

We support youth healing from:

  • Abuse or neglect

  • Addiction in the family

  • Domestic violence

  • Grief or loss

  • Instability

  • Bullying

  • Emotional trauma

No child needs to explain their trauma to participate.​

9. How are donations used?

100% of donations fund:​

  • Program supplies

  • Snacks

  • Journals & coping tools

  • Space rental

  • Training

  • Youth Activites

We require two board member signatures for any expense over $50.​
